If you have a Pro or Enterprise subscription, you can enable the Participant names feature, which requires participants to enter a name before accessing the Menti. Their names will subsequently be displayed in selected places throughout the presentation, as well as in the Results page.

Note that names are unique to each session, so there is currently no way to track results across sessions or different presentations.

How to enable participant names

To enable participant names, toggle the option 'Participant names are required' in the Interactivity tab:

Once that is done, when participants join the presentation they will first see the following screen where they will be asked to enter their names:

Identifying participants during and after the presentation

During the presentation

You will be able to see participants' names next to their responses in different places throughout the presentation in the following slide types (note that we are working to continuously support this in more slide types. If you have a specific need, contact us so we can consider it for prioritization):

  • Multiple Choice: to access the list of names, click on an avatar with an initial

  • Open Ended: names are visible by default

  • Scales: to access the list of names, hover over the specific scale, then click on the number you want to show names for

  • Q&A: names are visible by default

Keep in mind that during the presentation there is a limit in how many names we can show at the same time. For example, for Multiple choice questions the limit is 50 names per choice. This is to ensure a stable and fast experience during the presentation. We recommend using the names during the presentation in small groups for the best experience. Note that all names are shown in the Results page (see next section).

Note: When participant names are enabled, they will be visible to all participants if you share your screen. To turn off showing names, reset the presentation results and toggle participant names off in the Editor.

In the Results page

After the presentation, you can access the Results page to find more details on participants' responses. In Results, all participant names are available on all supported slide types with no limit on the number of participants.

In the Overview pane, you’ll also find a list of all the individual participants.

You can also scroll down to see a specific slide's results with identified responses:

You can also export your results to Excel, where you can find the participant names you have gathered.

What compliance standards does Mentimeter follow?

Keep in mind

  • This feature is only available for Pro and Enterprise plans.

  • This option is turned off by default for plans and needs to be enabled for each Menti.

  • When you reset results for the Menti and identification is turned on, the identity will also be reset. Participants will be prompted to add their name again when running the next session.

  • When you reset results for a single slide and identification is turned on, the identity will not be reset.

  • When using AI features, participant names are not sent to our third-party provider, OpenAI. Learn more about AI features here.

  • This is also a workspace setting, so the feature can be disabled by an admin for the entire workspace in the Workspace Settings menu:
