Please Note: If your account is on a Free plan, you will be able to engage up to 50 participants per month. Learn more in this article.

With any paid account, such as Basic, Pro, and Enterprise Plans, you can use Mentimeter with any audience size. Quiz type slides have a limit of 2,000 participants, but there is no limit for other slide types. For performance reasons, we do have some requirements for presenting with large audiences.

Large audiences

If you're planning to host a presentation with more than 10,000 participants, please email us at hello@mentimeter.com at least 2 days in advance with the following information:

  • Date and time of your presentation (start and end time, including time zone)

  • Max estimated audience size

  • Link to your presentation (how to share presentation link)

  • Approximate location of your audience (if known, just the continent is enough)

Large Quizzes

The quiz question type has a capacity of 2,000 participants. All other question types work perfectly up to several thousand participants so we recommend using other slide types for audiences larger than 2,000 (such as Multiple Choice or Open Ended slides).

What happens if more than 2,000 participants try to connect to a quiz?

If a participant tries to join a quiz that already has 2,000 participants, they will be placed in a kind of waiting room, where they will be able to join if another user drops out of the quiz.

Some pro tips when you are using Mentimeter with a large audience:

  • If the audience is in one location, such as a large venue, try not to give all participants access to the WiFi network. The mobile network is often better dimensioned than the venue WiFi hotspot. Also check with the venue's technical agent to see if the WiFi can handle that many connections simultaneously.

  • If you are relying on the venue WiFi, connect the laptop that is used to present Mentimeter to a wired connection, so as to avoid any issues due to potential overload on the WiFi. If there is no wired connection available, we recommend that you use a USB-dongle and connect to the 4G network.
