Mentimeter Basic and Pro subscriptions purchased with a credit card, PayPal, or an invoice requested online (paid by bank transfer) renew automatically every year. Below you will learn how to stop your Mentimeter subscription from renewing, to turn automatic renewal back on if you change your mind, and to understand what happens to your presentations after your subscription ends.
Turning off automatic renewal
To cancel your Mentimeter subscription, you turn off automatic renewal before your renewal date. Cancelling does not end your access early: you keep all your paid subscription benefits until the end of the period you've already paid for.
To turn off automatic renewal:
Log in to Mentimeter and click your profile icon in the top-right corner of the page.
In the menu that opens, click Billing. (You can also reach Billing from the left-hand menu inside the Account settings page.)
On the Billing page, open the Automatic renewal dropdown. It shows whether automatic renewal is currently on, and the deadline to cancel before the next renewal.
Click Cancel renewal.
A confirmation dialog opens asking why you want to cancel your renewal. Select a reason and click Cancel to confirm.
That's it! The Billing page now shows "Automatic renewal is turned off", and the Active until section shows the date your current subscription remains valid until.
You will receive a renewal reminder email before any renewal takes place. Because of this reminder, subscriptions that have already auto-renewed cannot be refunded. See Refund for your Mentimeter subscription for the full refund policy.
This cancellation only stops the automatic renewal - you will keep full access to your subscription benefits until the end of the current paid period. Therefore, you can disable the auto-renewal whenever it suits you.
Turning automatic renewal back on
If you cancelled automatic renewal but want your Mentimeter subscription to continue, you can turn it back on at any point before your current subscription period ends:
Click your profile icon in the top-right corner and select Billing.
In the Automatic renewal section, click Turn auto-renewal on. The page shows the amount you will be charged and the renewal date before you confirm.
All your presentations and data remain in your account throughout — nothing is deleted when you turn auto-renewal off or on.
Renewing after your subscription has expired
If your subscription has already expired, you can no longer update your payment method or turn auto-renewal back on in your account settings. Instead, purchase a new plan directly from the Mentimeter plans page. Your account is upgraded again immediately, and you will regain access to all your old presentations.
What happens to my presentations when my account is downgraded?
If you cancel your subscription, all your existing presentations and results will still remain in your account. You will have access to the free account features but you will no longer have access to any paid features, so if a presentation contains paid features you won't be able to use it.
