How to use Mentimeter in a remote session

Learn how to quickly set up your Mentimeter presentation via your preferred web conferencing tool

If you are running a remote session and want to keep your audience engaged you can easily share your Mentimeter presentation with your audience using a web conferencing tool of your choice.

Using Zoom or Microsoft Teams? We recommend using our dedicated integrations for the smoothest experience. Participants can join and interact directly within Zoom or MS Teams, without entering a voting code or opening a separate browser tab.

How to set up a remote session

  1. Open your preferred web conferencing tool and share your screen with your audience

  2. Click Start presentation on your Mentimeter presentation in the browser

Your audience will see your presentation and can start interacting by going to menti.com and entering the code shown on your screen or you can share the QR code or direct voting link for fast access.

Best practices for remote presentations

Make sure the voting code is visible

When sharing your screen, keep the voting code visible so participants can easily join the presentation. If you use presentation mode, check that the code remains visible in the shared view. You can also share the QR code or direct voting link in the meeting chat to make joining even easier.

Fullscreen vs. windowed presentation

Both fullscreen and windowed presentation modes work for remote sessions. Fullscreen mode provides a cleaner experience for your audience, while windowed mode can make it easier to manage your video conferencing controls, chat, notes, or other presentation materials during the session. Choose the option that best fits your setup.

Understanding the voting link and screen sharing

Screen sharing and audience participation are separate experiences. Participants watch your presentation through your web conferencing tool, but they submit responses through Mentimeter. They can join by entering the voting code at menti.com, scanning the QR code, or opening the direct voting link.

If participants are joining from a single device, they may need to switch between the meeting window and the voting page. For the best experience, consider sharing the voting link in the meeting chat or recommending that participants use a second device, such as a smartphone, for voting.

Be aware of meeting platform delays

Most video conferencing platforms introduce a small delay between your screen and what participants see. To ensure everyone has time to respond, consider pausing briefly after opening a question or advancing to a new slide before discussing the results.

Pro Tip: If your audience want to follow the presentation screen and interact at the same time they can vote using their smartphones while viewing the presentation on a second device. Alternatively, they can open the voting link in a second window in order to see both views on a single device.
