Participant ratings and feedback after your session

Participants are automatically asked to rate their experience after a Mentimeter session. Learn what they see, when you're notified, and where to find the feedback

After a Mentimeter session ends, participants are automatically asked to rate their experience and share feedback. This happens on all plans, in both presenter-paced and audience-paced sessions, and it cannot be turned off. Use this article to understand what participants see, when you'll receive the feedback email, and where to view the feedback for your presentation.

How participant feedback works

Participant feedback in Mentimeter is collected in three steps:

1. Participants rate the session. At the end of a session, participants are asked to give feedback on the presentation. They rate their experience using a star rating (1–5 stars) and can choose among quick-select options to describe their experience.

The participant feedback flow on a participant's phone at the end of a Mentimeter session: the 'Thanks for joining!' end screen shows a 'Rate this Menti' prompt with five stars, followed by a follow-up question with quick-select options and a Submit button, then a confirmation reading 'Thank you! Your feedback is on its way to the presenter.'

2. The presenter receives an email notification. If at least one participant has submitted feedback, Mentimeter emails the presenter 24 hours after the session ends to let them know participants have shared their thoughts. The email includes a link to the feedback.

The Mentimeter feedback notification email sent to the presenter, titled 'People left feedback on your Menti!', explaining that participants left feedback at the end of the session, with a 'Go to feedback' button linking to the Results page.

3. Feedback appears on the Results page. All participant feedback is collected and displayed on the presentation's Results page. You can open it at any time from the link in the notification email or by going directly to the Results page of your presentation.

The Results page of a Mentimeter presentation with the participant feedback panel open, showing an average rating of 4.8 stars from 32 participants, a star-rating distribution under 'How engaging was this Menti?', and counts for each quick-select answer to 'What did you like about this session?'

Follow-up questions based on star rating

After giving a star rating, participants see a follow-up question that depends on the rating:

  • 1–3 stars"What would've made this session better for you?" — with quick-select options such as More interaction, Clearer structure, More variety, More examples, Deeper questions, Faster tempo, and Clearer purpose.

  • 4–5 stars"What did you like about this session?" — with quick-select options such as Fun interactions, Clear structure, Useful insights, Helpful examples, Thought-provoking, Easy to follow, and Clear purpose.

Two participant feedback screens side by side: a 5-star rating showing 'What did you like about this session?' with options such as Fun interactions, Clear structure, and Useful insights, and a 3-star rating showing 'What would've made this session better for you?' with options such as More interaction, Clearer structure, and More examples.

Participant feedback in Surveys

Participant feedback is also collected for Surveys, with two differences:

  • Participants can only leave a star rating — no follow-up question is asked.

  • The feedback notification email is sent to the presenter one week after the first feedback has been submitted, rather than 24 hours after the session ends.

Notes

  • The feedback prompt is shown automatically to all participants and cannot be disabled by the presenter.

  • Feedback is only requested once the session has ended; it is not collected during a live session.
