A Text slide lets you add written content to a Menti Live presentation. On a Text slide, you can choose from seven font sizes (Title, Heading 1–3 and Body 1–3) and a Quote style, add bulleted and numbered lists at any font size, and arrange text in up to three columns. Text slides and all of these formatting options are available on all plans.
Text slides in Menti Live
Add a Text slide in Menti Live
To add a Text slide to a Menti Live presentation:
Click the New slide button.
Select Text.
Click the middle of the slide canvas and start typing.
When you click into the text on a Text slide, a formatting menu appears. The formatting menu on a Text slide has two rows:
Top row: the font size dropdown, a Reorder icon (two arrows) to move the column, and a trash icon to delete the column.
Bottom row: text color, text style, alignment, lists, quote, link and a character count.
Each column on a Text slide can contain up to 800 characters. The character count at the end of the bottom row shows how many characters the column contains. When a column reaches 800 characters, you cannot type any more text into that column. To add more text, shorten the existing text or add another column.
Change the font size on a Text slide
A Text slide has seven font sizes. From largest to smallest, they are:
Title: for the main message of the slide.
Heading 1, Heading 2 and Heading 3: for section headings.
Body 1, Body 2 and Body 3: for paragraphs and lists.
To change the font size on a Text slide:
Click the line of text you want to change.
Click the font size dropdown in the top row of the formatting menu. The dropdown shows the font size currently selected, for example Body 1.
Select a new font size.
Each line of text on a Text slide can use a different font size. For example, you can use Title for the slide's main message and Body 2 for supporting points.
You can also apply heading sizes as you type. At the start of a line, type # for Heading 1, ## for Heading 2 or ### for Heading 3.
Add a quote to a Text slide
The Quote style on a Text slide displays text in a shaded box with quotation marks, so a quote stands out from the rest of the slide. To add a quote to a Text slide, click the line of text, then click the quote button (the quotation mark icon) in the formatting menu.
Make text bold, italic, underlined or strikethrough on a Text slide
To change the text style on a Text slide, select the text, then click the B button in the formatting menu and choose an option. Each text style also has a keyboard shortcut:
Text style | Mac | Windows |
Bold | Cmd + B | Ctrl + B |
Italics | Cmd + I | Ctrl + I |
Underline | Cmd + U | Ctrl + U |
Strikethrough | Cmd + Shift + S | Ctrl + Shift + S |
Add bulleted and numbered lists to a Text slide
Bulleted and numbered lists on a Text slide work with every font size, from Title to Body 3. You can also mix bulleted and numbered items in the same list.
To add a list to a Text slide:
Click the line of text where you want the list to start.
Click the list button in the formatting menu.
Select Bullet list or Numbered list.
To change a single list item between bulleted and numbered, click that item and select the other list type.
You can also use keyboard shortcuts on a Text slide:
Bullet list: Cmd + Shift + 8 on Mac, Ctrl + Shift + 8 on Windows.
Numbered list: Cmd + Shift + 7 on Mac, Ctrl + Shift + 7 on Windows.
Reveal list items one at a time on a Text slide
Bulleted and numbered lists on a Text slide can appear all at once or one item at a time. To reveal list items one at a time, enable the Animate list items toggle in the sidebar.
Animate list items applies to lists only. Other text on the Text slide, such as headings and paragraphs, appears straight away.
When you present a Text slide with Animate list items enabled, the Next slide button changes to Show next bullet. Each time you click Next bullet, the next list item appears. When all list items are visible, the button changes back to Next slide.
Align text on a Text slide
To align text on a Text slide, click the alignment button in the formatting menu. The alignment menu has two rows:
Horizontal alignment: left, center or right.
Vertical alignment: top, middle or bottom.
Change the text color or add a link on a Text slide
To change the text color on a Text slide, select the text, then click the color circle at the start of the bottom row of the formatting menu.
To add a link on a Text slide:
Select the text you want to link.
Click the link button in the formatting menu.
Enter the web address in the Enter link here field.
Click Update.
Add columns to a Text slide
A Text slide can have up to three columns. Each column has its own text, so you can use different font sizes and lists in each column. Each column can contain up to 800 characters, so a Text slide with three columns can contain up to 2,400 characters in total.
To add a column to a Text slide, click the + button to the right of the text field.
To reorder columns on a Text slide:
Click the column you want to move.
Click the Reorder icon (two arrows) in the top row of the formatting menu.
Click the left arrow or the right arrow in the menu that appears. The column moves one position in the direction of the arrow.
The Reorder menu only shows the arrows for directions the column can move in. For example, the first column only shows a right arrow.
Delete a column from a Text slide
Click the column you want to delete.
Click the trash icon in the top row of the formatting menu.
Text blocks in Menti Form
To add a text block to a Menti Form:
Click the + Create button.
Select Text.
Click into the text block and start typing.
Text blocks in Menti Form have a smaller set of formatting options than Text slides in Menti Live. When you click into a text block in a Menti Form, a formatting menu appears with these options:
H1, H2 and H3: format a line as Heading 1, Heading 2 or Heading 3.
Normal text: the button with three horizontal lines returns a line to normal text.
Bold, italic and underline.
Bulleted list and numbered list.
Align left, center, right or justify.
The following Text slide options are not available in Menti Form text blocks:
The Title, Body 1, Body 2, Body 3 and Quote styles.
Text color.
Strikethrough and links.
Vertical alignment.
Animate list items.
Columns.
