If you have several Multiple Choice questions in your presentation, you can use segmentation to present the results according to what the participants have responded on another question.

In the example below, you can see a Multiple Choice question that is segmented according to what the participants have answered in a previous question (which department they work for).

Some interesting use cases for segmentations are:

  • Group people according to specific attributes, and analyze subsequent questions based on those attributes

  • Assign participants in groups or teams and see how the responses from each group differs, or which team has the most accurate answers!

Conditions

To use segmentation, make sure that your presentation meets the following conditions:

  • There are at least two Multiple Choice questions

  • No more than 10 answer options each

  • Only allow the audience to choose one option for those questions

Note: This segmentation feature must be enabled prior to collecting results. After results have been received, this feature will no longer be available to use on desired Multiple Choice slides.

Choose segmentation in the Edit View

To pre-set segmentation when you edit your questions, check "Extras" for your Multiple Choice question. Under 'Choose segmentation', you can pick which question you wish to conduct the segmentation.

Choose segmentation in the Presentation View

To segment the responses live in the Presentation View, open the presentation menu (by hovering over the bottom left of the screen), then choose "Show Segmentation" in the left-side toolbar, and choose which question you want as the basis for the segmentation.

In the example below, you can see which animal participants prefer, segmented according to which department they work for in the company:

Note that in case you have smaller groups, you should notify your audience that you may be able to connect certain answers to certain people. As a presenter, you are responsible for the potential collection of personal data.

Segment responses in real time with the Insights button

You can also segment responses while presenting by using the Insights button.

Click the Insights button in the bottom left of the screen and choose Segmentation:

Then select the slide you want to segment against:

Break down responses in the Results page

You can also segment responses after the fact by going into the Results tab of your presentation. This can be done for Multiple Choice and Open Ended slides.

Find the slide you want to break down and click the Breakdown button:

This will open a side menu, where you can select the slide to segment against. Choose a question from the dropdown menu:

This will segment the responses on this slide according to the responses on the slide you've selected:

To clear the segmentation and show the slides original results again, simply click the Clear button.
