Control your presentation with the Mentimote presentation remote

How to open and use the Mentimote to move between slides, read your speaker notes, hide responses and moderate Q&A from your phone or computer.

Note: this feature is only available in Menti Live.

The Mentimote is Mentimeter's presentation remote. You can use the Mentimote on your smartphone or computer to control your Menti Live presentation from anywhere in the room. Use this article to open the Mentimote, move between slides, read your speaker notes, hide unwanted responses without closing responding, moderate your Q&A (questions and answers), and change slide settings while you present.

The Mentimote is available in Menti Live on Pro and Enterprise plans.

Note that the Mentimote is only available for Pro and Enterprise plans.

Moving between slides in the Mentimote

The left panel of the Mentimote shows the slide you are currently presenting, plus the previous and next slides. To move between slides in the Mentimote, click the arrows in the left panel.

Left panel

On the left panel, you can see the slide you are currently on, as well as the next and previous slides. You can also move to the next or previous slide using the arrows:

Using the tabs in the Mentimote right panel

The right panel of the Mentimote has three tabs: Notes, Responses and Q&A. The Responses tab only appears when you are presenting a Word Cloud or Open Ended slide.

Reading speaker notes in the Notes tab

The Notes tab in the Mentimote shows any speaker notes you have added to the current slide. Speaker notes are only visible to the presenter. Your audience cannot see your speaker notes.

Hiding responses in the Responses tab

The Responses tab in the Mentimote shows the responses participants have submitted on the current Word Cloud or Open Ended slide. The Responses tab is only available on Word Cloud and Open Ended slides. You can hide a response from the Responses tab without closing responding, so participants can keep responding while you moderate.

To hide a response in the Mentimote:

  1. Select the Responses tab.

  2. Click the Hide icon next to the response. The Hide icon is an eye with a line through it.

The hidden response disappears from the presentation screen. Hiding a response removes every matching response at the same time, and matching is not case-sensitive. For example, hiding "pizza" also hides "Pizza" and "PIZZA".

A hidden response is not deleted. The hidden response is still saved in your results and included in your exports. To restore a hidden response, hover over the Hide icon next to the response until the icon changes to an eye, and click the eye icon.

Moderating questions in the Q&A tab

The Q&A tab in the Mentimote shows the questions participants have submitted with Q&A. In the Q&A tab, you can:

  • View submitted questions.

  • Present a question on the presentation screen.

  • Mark a question as answered.

  • Sort questions by newest, oldest or most upvoted.

  • Approve questions before they appear on the presentation screen, if Q&A moderation is enabled.

Changing slide and presentation settings from the Mentimote

The bottom-right corner of the Mentimote has controls for the slide you are presenting and for your Menti as a whole. From the Mentimote, you can:

If you cannot open or use the Mentimote, check that you are on a Pro or Enterprise plan and that your Menti is in Presentation mode. If the Mentimote still does not work, contact our support team through the chat on this page.
