How to use Menti Pulse

Quickly check in with your team and track sentiment over time.

Menti Pulse helps you quickly check in with your team and track how they’re feeling over time. With recurring pulses and trend insights, you can spot patterns, gather anonymous feedback, and take action based on real team sentiment.

What is Menti Pulse?

Menti Pulse is a recurring check-in tool that measures team sentiment over time. Just ask a question, get answers, then do the same thing next week, and get a trend curve. It gives you honest insights into how people actually think and feel about certain topics.

"Are we still confident in the project? Are we stressed? Or are we even moving towards the same goal?"

All votes are anonymous, giving you honest answers you can act on. Then you can ask follow up questions in the pulse-check to dig deeper into the why.

Menti Pulse is designed to:

  • Measure perception in key questions

  • Track sentiment trends over time

  • Encourage honest feedback

  • Help you take informed action

Creating a Pulse on Mentimeter.com

  1. Log in to your Mentimeter account at mentimeter.com

  2. Click New Menti + in the top left corner

  3. Select Pulse from the menu

You can write your own question or choose from a set of suggested templates. Then customize how you want it to look and what answer options you want.

Scheduling your Pulse

When your question is ready, you can fill in the scheduling details in the right side panel:

Pulse works best with consistency. The more regularly you run it, the more meaningful the trends become. You can schedule your Pulse to run:

  • Weekly (default, recommended for trend tracking)

  • Daily

  • Weekdays only: Mon-Fri

  • Do not repeat (one-time pulse)

Yo can also set when the deadline when the Pulse closes. Participation stops automatically at that point, and results are sent to you as the creator.

You can also add the emails of the participants so they will be notified when the Pulse is ready.

When you're all set, click the Share button in the top-right corner to share the Pulse, and you will see a confirmation modal:

You can copy the link from this modal and share it with participants this way, instead of inviting them via email.

What participants see

When a Pulse is sent, participants see:

  • The question and rating scale

  • A note that all participation is anonymous

  • A live count of how many people have responded

After responding, participants can optionally leave an anonymous written comment to explain their score. They can also change their response if needed.

Understanding trends

Trend data becomes available once the Pulse has run more than once. You'll see:

  • Total number of responses

  • Average score per pulse

  • Whether the score is trending up or down

  • Historical results over time

This is where Pulse really comes alive. A single check-in gives you a snapshot, but a series gives you a story, one you can use to identify recurring issues, measure the impact of changes you've made, and have more informed conversations with your team.

Managing your Pulse

Once scheduled, you can see when the next Pulse will be sent in the top-right corner. Click on that button if you want to pause the Pulse.

You can edit the scheduling of your Pulse by clicking on the Edit button next to the Schedule section:

In the menu that opens, you can edit the scheduling of the Pulse..

Using Pulse in MS Teams

Menti Pulse also works directly in Microsoft Teams, letting you send check-ins to your team without leaving the app.

To get started, an IT admin needs to install the Menti Pulse app in your Teams workspace. Once set up, the experience is the same as on mentimeter.com. You can create, schedule, and track pulses directly from a Teams channel by clicking the + button and selecting Menti Pulse.

For detailed instructions on setting up Menti Pulse in Microsoft Teams, refer to the Teams setup article.

Best practices

  • Keep questions simple and focused. One clear question gets more honest responses than a complex one.

  • Stick to a consistent schedule. Regularity is what builds the trend curve.

  • Review feedback regularly and communicate what actions you're taking based on results.

  • Encourage participation. Consistency and transparency build response rates over time.
