Word Cloud, also known as wordle or word collage, is one of Mentimeter's most popular question types. Your audience input words to create a Word Cloud that will grow and expand in an impressive way.
The Word Cloud is great to use if you want to let your audience respond with a word or two and you wish to emphasize the most popular or common words. It will look best when the answers are expected to be short – if you expect longer answers, you can use our Open Ended question type instead.
Watch this video to learn how to create a Word Cloud or read more below.
Create a Word Cloud
This is how you create a Word Cloud with Mentimeter:
Create a new slide
Choose Word Cloud
Fill in your question
That's it! Now it's up to your audience to fill the Word Cloud with their input.
You can choose the maximum number of entries the audience may submit. Please note that two words separated by a space still count as one entry.
If you are anticipating inappropriate words submitted by your audience, you can use the profanity filter to remove those words from the WordCloud.
If you want to let the audience submit several times, you can allow them to vote more than once from the same device.
Get a vote in the Word cloud
This is how it looks when you get a vote in the Word cloud. As you get more votes, the most popular words will appear bigger and bigger.
All words in the Word Cloud will be displayed as small letters and the word cloud can accept up to 400 unique words. If you receive more votes than that, the 400 most popular votes will be visible on the screen.
Removing unwanted entries
In case your audience enters undesired words that haven't been captured by our profanity filter, or you simply want to remove addressed input or tidy up the results before exporting to PDF, you can remove input from Word Clouds and Open Ended questions. This can be done either in the Mentimote or directly on your presentation screen. For more info see: Remove input from Word Cloud questions.
