Configuring Verified Participants for IT Admins

Learn how to set up Verified Participants for your workspace as a workspace owner or admin.

Updated this week

As a presenter, you can control who is able to join your Mentimeter presentation by requiring participants to login via SSO. This feature enhances security by limiting access to verified users within your organization.

To enable your team to use this feature as a workspace owner or admin, you will need to follow the steps below in both your IDP and in Mentimeter’s workspace settings.

How to set up Verified Participants

1. Set up your participant application in your IDP

Set up an application with all employees in your company that may need to join a presentation in the future. Include all workspace members as well - this will not change their member permissions.

Note: These participants will not occupy any Mentimeter licenses, so feel free to add all employees.

2. Set Up Participant SSO in Workspace settings

If you require help setting up a new application in your IDP, follow steps 1-3 in our guide for EntraID of OKTA. Then return to this article to complete the Participant SSO setup.

  • Ensure the SSO setup includes participant-specific access, with email and display name requirements enabled in your IDP.

Access management re-cap: With this feature enabled the presenter of a Menti in your workspace can now choose between:

  • Public: This is the default behaviour you are used to, no log in required.

  • Logged in: This is the new functionality now possible, where users can login using the Participant SSO configuration.

Keep in mind that the Participant SSO setup is different from your regular Workspace SSO setup. You should now have two types of SSO applications set up:

Best Practices

  • Feel free to add all potential participants in your new IDP Application. You do not need to filter our Workspace members.

  • As a logged in user will not be able to change/edit their name or email, ensure the email and display name are included in the response from your IDP.
